Benefits of Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy Therapeutic massage and stretching can help you regain and maintain proper alignment. When muscles are relaxed and restored to their optimal length, correct posture and alignment are more easily sustained.Massage can trigger the relaxation response, relieving the negative effects of stress and restoring balance in the body. Some positive effects of the relaxation response include slower heart rate, deeper breathing more relaxed muscles, improved lymphatic flow to flush toxins, and better internal circulation and digestion.

Meet Annie Semlak, Massage Therapist

Annie received her massage therapy certification from Aveda Institute in Minneapolis in January 2014 where she was trained in several modalities including deep tissue, Swedish relaxation, trigger point therapy, prenatal massage, hot and cold stone therapy and reflexology.  Prior to her massage therapy training.   She studied Biology, Human Anatomy, Physiology and other health science-related courses.  She graduated from Normandale Community College with an A.A.S in Diet Technology, which combines training in Life Cycle nutrition, Medical Nutrition Therapy and Nutrition Education and Counseling.

Annie’s youth involved music and movement through dance and when she discovered yoga in the winter of 2016, she fell in love with the breath to movement connection that not only challenged her mind but also strengthened her body and nourished her spirit.  Annie incorporates knowledge from her extensive background of secondary studies along with her passion of music and movement to provide quality body work that is intuitive and unique in style which combines relaxation techniques with deeper muscle work and long, therapeutic strokes. She believes in thoroughly and patiently working areas of concern before moving on to achieve maximum progress, minimal pain and lasting results.

Meet Sofia Romani, Massage Therapist

Sofia has called the twin cities home for years. Since graduating from the Aveda Institute of northeast Minneapolis in 2011, Sofia has kept her work as a massage therapist alive through freelance, luxury spas, and working closely with chiropractors and acupuncturists around the cities.

From Swedish Deep Tissue to reflexology, her knowledge and of the human body and massage are extensive from head to toe. Sharing her passion with fellow humans and opening their perspective to holistic healing is what drives her. As someone dealing chronic pain and scoliosis, her desire to feel relief is what brought her to the healing practice of massage. In finding an understanding of how her body is affected she also found acceptance and wanted the same for every person she touched. Developing meaningful connections with the unique individuals she’s met through massage keeps her passionate about her work and always looking for more. With comfort and efficacy as top priorities in her practice, helping you feel more than better is what Sofia does best.
